Shades of Adventure

Green: Go for it!
Yellow: Slow down…
Red: Stop.

A familiar signal for traffic – but what happens when we change the context? These same signals are also used to slightly different effect in some more adventurous human play communities to communicate – with greater detail and nuance – around consent.

There are variations but, one model is:
Green is the “yes please – lovin’ it!”
Yellow is the “slow down – continue with care and attention”
Red is the “Stop. This isn’t working – something’s gotta change.”

Some even add in their own shades:
Gray for “um… yeah… this isn’t doing anything for me…”

How can you know, choose and express your colors!?!

A familiar signal for traffic – but what happens when we change the context?

These same signals are also used to slightly different effect in some more adventurous human play communities to communicate – with greater detail and nuance – around consent.

There are variations but, one model is:
Green is the “yes please – lovin’ it!”

Gray for “um… yeah… this isn’t doing anything for me…”

How can you know, choose, and express your colors!?!

What color is alive for you in this moment?
Is this something you know like the back of your hand?
Perhaps today that well worn trail is needing to be walked with extra care?
Maybe these are new depths you’re visiting for the first time?

What hue do you want play in?
Perhaps you’re wanting a lush dark forest shade… or a fluorescent neon green?
Perhaps teal or tangy lemon-lime?
Maybe you’re even *wanting* to swim in orange waters?
Perhaps a solid primary green.
Where are you wanting to explore and adventure?

How can you show, embody, express and communicate your shades… on the dance floor? in life?

And, perhaps most importantly:
How do we respond to these ranges of color?
